August STAGE Meeting Minutes:

2019-2020

“Reaching for the Stars”

The August STAGE Meeting began at 2:45 pm.

The officers started out with a quick Q&A, explaining the department’s values, the meaning of STAGE, our motto “act well your part, there all the honor lies”, and ways for freshman and technicians to get involved, such as crews.

Jackson: Welcomed all old and new to our 2019-2020 school year. He also introduced our 2020 Summer New York Trip. If you are interested in visiting New York this summer, please talk to Mr. Cottom about attending the trip! The STAGE’s website, www.tomballstage.org (QR code on the callboard) has trip details as well.

Andrew: Talked about Sponsorships! Sponsorships are extremely important for what we do here as a department. If you or someone you know would like to get a sponsorship application (for a business, family member, friend, etc.), you may of course come by the office to come pick up a form. The sponsorship applications are also available on our website at www.tomballstage.org.

Miranda: Spoke about class fees and their importance to our department, as well as our winter show “Peter and the Starcatcher”. Auditions are on September 4th and 5th .

Tanner: Talked about Publicity Crews to assist in publicizing the show. If these interest you, check the callboard for when sign ups go up, or talk to Tanner. He also talked about this year’s new STAGE shirts with our theme “reaching for the stars”, which are $10 each. If you would like a STAGE shirt, please see one of the officers before or after school.

Preston: Explained Directory sheets, health forms, and MOPAP for this current year in order to gain points. It is advised that MOPAP is to be read and understood if you are in the department. Health forms must be turned into Mr. Cottom or Mrs. Hearn while MOPAPs, directory forms, and photo release forms must be turned into Preston.  

Delaney: Talked about the importance of video crew and ushering for this first show as well as the rest of the year. If you are interested in video crew, or ushering, look out for when signups are posted on the callboard, or talk to Delaney.

Maddie: Introduced our fall show “The Odd Couple”. The performance dates for the female version are September 19th and 21st while dates for the male cast are the 20th and the 23rd. To purchase tickets, go to the STAGE’s website, www.tomballstage.org, purchase them week of the show in the cafeteria, or buy them at the door.

Tanner: Hosted our department “Safari”, where members were guided by officers, learning where things belong.

Jackson and Tanner: introduced “Spec Recs.”, where we recognize those who did outstanding work in the department this month / over the summer. These students were Isaac T., Brennan P., Sara B., Joseandres O., and Gabby G., who also received our special “Rock star” award.

Delaney: Welcomed all and introduced the stage meeting. She talked about usher sign ups, packet, and training. For more information on ushering, talk to an officer before or after school and/or contact Delaney.

Jackson: Jackson talked about the fun of crews! If you don’t want to act, come get involved in costume, build, or publicity crews. For more information talk to an officer before or after school. He also spoke about our 2020 Summer New York Trip and our 2022 trip to England and Scotland. If you are interested in visiting New York this summer, or England and Scotland next summer, please talk to Mr. Cottom about attending the trip! Miranda: Talked about class fees and our winter show “Peter and the Starcatcher”. Auditions are on September 4th and 5th. Don’t forget class fees are due very soon!!

Jimena: Spoke about specifically costume crews! They’re Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3-6. She also talked about pictures! Make sure if you have any pictures from theatre rehearsals, meetings, etc. to contact Jimena about them. You can see her before or after school in the office. She also talked about Bio Board committee! It’s a committee that’s in charge of creating the bio board to help honor our cast members. Signups are on the callboard and if you have any questions, contact Maddie or Jimena.

Preston: Talked about point sheets and how you need to turn them in to Preston as soon as you can! They’re how you get credit for what you do to help out the theatre department. MOPaPs also need to be turned in! You need to have a signed MoPAP in to participate in a show.

Tanner: Tanner talked about our upcoming show of Odd Couple! Performances are the 19th, 20th, 21st, and the 23rd, come see our show! He also talked about participating in Publicity Crew! For more information, contact Tanner before or after school. Lastly he talked about this year’s new STAGE shirts, which are $10 each. Delaney: Gave out spec recs to Alexander H., Jamie T., Logan S., Christy S., Julia B., and gave our Rock Star award to Avery B. She also introduced the activity of the month which was a kahoot made up of questions concerning 101 tips.

Tanner: Welcomed all and introduced the stage meeting. He spoke about Haunted Library on October 25th. He also talked about participating in Publicity Crew! Jimena: Talked about costume measurements during blocks throughout the week, the importance of costume crew (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3-6), and when the cast of Peter and the Starcatcher are doing their headshots. She also talked about pictures! Make sure if you have any pictures from theatre rehearsals, meetings, etc. to contact Jimena about them. You can see her before or after school in the office.

Maddie: Talked about Peter and the Starcatcher, how to get involved, and the dates for the show which are November 14th, 15th, 16th, and 18th at 7pm and the 16th at 3pm as well. She also recognized those who helped behind the scenes in the Odd Couple. She introduced Coffee House, with auditions on January 14th, and Bios which are due October 4th.

Miranda: Talked about the Student Showcase on October 4th (this Friday) where many students get to show off their acting abilities, the silent auction we’re having during Peter and the Starcatcher, and production fees also for Peter and the Starcatcher.

Delaney: Spoke about Spirit Night on October 15th, and how one can get involved in ushering along with its importance in our upcoming show.

Tanner: Gave out spec recs Robert R., Gabby G., Ty G., Brennan P., Jimena M., Kaylee B., Constanza M., and gave our Rock Star award to Sara B. He also introduced the activity of the month which was a group costume contest.

Miranda Welcomed all and introduced the stage meeting. She talked about Meal Forms being due November 8th, and Advanced Ticket Forms.

The sponsorship applications are also available on our website at www.tomballstage.org. Andrew also spoke about production fees being due as well as the ability to sell a sponsorship to cover production fees.

Jimena: Talked about costume measurements during blocks throughout the week, the importance of costume crew (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3-6), and when the cast of Peter and the Starcatcher are doing their headshots. Bio board committee is also commencing once again! She also talked about pictures. Make sure if you have any pictures from theatre rehearsals, meetings, etc. to contact Jimena about them. You can see her before or after school in the office.

Maddie: Introduced Coffee House, with auditions on January 14th,  NOS (with scenes due in January as well), and UIL auditions which will happen on December 10th.

Delaney: Spoke about our upcoming food drive in which we are collecting non-perishable food items in the boxes beneath the officer boards in the theatre hallway. Remember! Whoever gets the least amount of cans in their box gets pied at the winter social. She also spoke about ushers and house crew!

Miranda: Gave out spec recs Taylor L., Wyatt V., Anthony S., Gabby G., Nicole T., Karisia G., Matthew N., Brennan P., and Sanjana P. and gave our Rock Star award to Isaac T. She also introduced the activity of the month which was decorating the officers’ food drive boxes.
